27.12. Oodi is gone After Christmas, it was time for Oodi to move to the heavenly yacht lands. Oodi was the mother of Puronperän's T- and Ö-litters. It lived to be almost 14 years old. Our deepest condolences to Oodi's owners and loved ones in the midst of grief!

3.12. Team Finland published Dansk Gordon Setter Klub (DGSK) will celebrate it's 100th anniversary in 2022. In this context, DGSK will hold its 100th anniversary and Nordic match on 23rd to 27th March 2022. During the days, there will be an international match, field trials, dog show and anniversary party (invitation and program). A team of four ekipage from each country will be selected for the international match. As far as I know, at least Finland, Sweden and Norway have secured their participation. The Finnish team was selected according to field trials merits in 2021. There was a nice email from the press officier of the Gordon Setter Section in the breed club. The Gordon Setter Section was 3.12. decided on that national team at its meeting: "Selected for the team Kesärannan AH Banjo, for. Jaakko Kosonen Puronperän Villivadelma, for. Jukka Puro Puronperän Pakkanen, for. Jukka Puro Reserve Puronperän Xavier, for. Jarkko Träsk Team leader Jukka Puro" So, the real Dream Team Finland: father, mother and daughter with Rio! Nice to travel to Denmark again and meet friends from other Nordic countries. The Finnish team is such that a fun and memorable trip will surely come!

27.-28.11. Puronperän meeting & pheasant hunting During the weekend held the traditional year's last meet, Puronperän's pheasant hunting and training weekend. This time the participants were a quite  young. The participants were from youngest to oldest Tessa, Johanna and Juho; Lissu (Bernilla), Luna, Katri and Mikko; Inez (Bianca) and Marcus; Mila (Pihla) and Ville; Turo (Zeus) and Jukka-Pekka; Rio (Xavier) and Jarkko; Riesa (Xiru) and Reijo; Remu (XO), Valtteri, Sanna and Jari & Wili (Willow) and Antti. During week before came winter; snow and frost. The weekend was spent in beautiful winter weather. Sometimes the weak wind was a bit of a harm, but still the dogs took the dogs worked very nicely with the pheasants. The young dogs advanced by leaps and bounds and the backpack was collected full with the older dogs. It was a great weekend - thank you to all of you who participated!

6.-7.11. Success At this year's Gordon Race, not as many Puronperän dogs started this year as last year. Elma and Vinka succeeded in Saturday's qualifier and went on to Sunday's final with bird work. Without a couple of buddy's stand robberies, there would have been opportunities for quality awards as well. Vinka succeeded in Sunday's final and finished fifth at the end! Congratulations to Vinka and Pasi for a nice placement! On Saturday, Vilu participated in Södra Norrbottens Fågelhundsklubb's show in Öjeby, Piteå. The first show in her life went well and the result was direct quality judgement Excellent, Certificate and Best of Breed! 23.-24.10. Several awarded Field trials are underway towards the end of the season, but in full swing. The dogs are in good condition and the results will be! On Saturday, Rio had a good day in the field trial in Lapua. Good bird work for the flock of partridges, strong avance as usual and just in place after that. At the end Jarkko shot a partridge and Rio retrieved excellently - great result was AVO 2 (2nd prize in the open stake)! :-) At the same time in Pornainen, the father of the P-litter, Banjo, made a strong result: three bird works and a flawless day - the result was AVO 1 (1st prize in the open stake) and he continued to the winner stake! Jihuuuu! Another awarder of the same trial was Banjo's daughter Vilu. According to the judge she made an excellent first prize level search, but unfortunately she went 15 meters after the bird and the price thus NUO 3 (3rd prize in the novice stake) - here in Finland even young dogs have to stop right on the spot after flush. On Sunday, Immu started in Uusimaa kennel district's championship in Pornainen. The result was AVO 3 (3rd prize in the open stake) and again they participated in the last poses... :-) Congratulations to the whole gang: Rio, Marika & Jarkko; Banjo, Sanna & Jaakko and Immu, Heli & Tomi!

9.10. Mila and Vilu awarded Tyrnävä's field trials weekend was one of the highlights of the autumn so far: both Mila (Pihla) and Vilu (Pakkanen) took the prizes! Mila got 2nd prize novice stake and Vilu got 1st prize novice stake! During the day, Mila presented better and better search and did an excellent bird work: solid stand, avanced excellently and stayed exactly in place - great! Vilu did two bird works, respected field hare and backed pair mate - not an owl day. The result was the fourth 1st prize of the autumn and she was mentioned as the best dog of the weekend's field trials. Congratulations to Mila and Ville for the first prize in their career! 1.-2.10. Nice participation in Guld cup and Derby The autumn's Kultamalja ("Gold Cup") and Derby qualifiers and finals were held the first weekend in October in Lapua. A total of nine dogs from Puronperän kennel were seen on the starting line! :-) They started in the Kultamalja qualifier Zeus, "Turo ZZ Top, "Topi" Pakkanen, "Vilu" Pelle Pihla, "Mila" In the Derby qualifier started Xavier, "Rio" Xiri, "Siiri" Xiru, "Riesa" XO, "Remu" There was no such success as last year, although the dogs received good critiques and most of them showed their ability to find birds... Many thanks to everyone who started - continue in the same way!!

27.9. Third first prize for Vilu The tailwind for Vilu continued in the field trial in Kauhava, which opened the official breed organization's field trials week. Vilu search and run now a quite well and did a very nice bird work for a large partridge flock. Field trial season's third novice stake 1st prize! There were a total of 20 dogs in the novice and open stakes (classes).  At the end of the day Vilu was named as the best dog in the field trial! The judge was Kari Tuikkala. Thank you Vilu - she does a great job and has good luck too! Results on the breed club's FB website

25.9. Kentten Voittaja - Vattu fourth Kenttien Voittaja ("The Winner of the Fields"), the official Finnish championship for British pointing dogs, is held every other year in the field and on the mountain. On this year the championship was 25.9. on the mountains in Utsjoki (Ochejohka), in the terrain Gumppečohkka and Niibevarri. Vattu was the only one of the placed dogs that did the perfect bird work with down shooted bird and retrieve. The hunting dog is a thoroughbred hunting dog even in competition! :-) Thanks Vattu once again! Results on the breed club's FB website

22.8. Flying start for Vilu's hunting trials career Pakkanen, called as "Vilu", started in its first mountain test which organized by Södra Norrbottens Fågelhundsklubb on Arjeplogsfjällen on 21-22. August. Vilu was for the first time in her life on grouse terrain in the autumn, but her nose, which has adjusted with black grouses, worked just as well with wilow grouses... The first day in the mountain trials was a great success and the result was on the first try UKL 1 (1st prize in the novice stake)! The judge on the first day of the trial was Bert Ove Johansson. Vilu's second day in the mountain trials also went in a strong tailwind:  on Sunday she did a little bit better work than in the previous day and this resulted in the trial group's only prize UKL 1 & hp (1st prize in the novice stake & honorary award)! The judge on other days was Roger Larsson. Thank you Vilu - I can be proud of your great success this weekend! The joy of the second day was overshadowed by the young dog running down a cliff and being injured. What was admirable was that the helicopter came to save the dog within half an hour after the accident. Hope the young dog gets well again!

23.-25.7. Puppy meeting & training camp Kennel Puronperän's annual "puppy meeting" and "training camp" was held on the last weekend in July 26.-28.7. - as has been done almost every year on the last 20 years earlier. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the first Gordon Setter litter of Puronperän kennel. A nice number of enthusiastic tail wagers and their instructors took part in the weekend's trainings. Well, these seem to be progressing ... :-) Great performances - dogs and handlers did bird works that improved from performance to performance, regardless of age. The youngest were under 4 months old, but the extracts were like well trained dogs. The older ones showed great search and works for birds -  we can wait some awarded dogs from autumn's trials... :-) Many thanks to all participants - it was great to be together again! Continue is the same way , so good will come!

31.3. Isla the best pointing dog The local kennel organization Järviseudun Kennelkerho (JärvisKk) has been awarded the best dogs 2020 in the different categories. Isla awarded as the Best Pointing Dog 2020. This was just great! Especially, because there are a many great pointing dogs on the area, among other things english and german pointers.

19.3. Å/B-litter On Friday 19th was born very expected Å/B-litter. In the litter there are two males and two bitches. All the puppies are healthy and have got good colors, very dashing puppies!

24.2. Ultrascan Vattu was mated about one month ago. The mating did very well during about one week. The matings succeeded and according ultrascan we can wait a lot of puppies! Puppies should be born within' a month...

20.2. Puppy news There should come some puppies during the spring of 2021. I visited in Sweden at the time of the closure of the Swedish borders. In the Gothenburg Puronperän Xavier, Rio, mated with Rypebrinken's Tosca. What a great trip! The changes to a travelling caused by covid-19 brought a bit of a twist to the trip: the Swedes had nothing to do here in Finland, but I finally managed to travel to the other side of the Bothnia bay and the matings successed. The litter should be born in the beginning of April and the puppies are ready to travel to their new homes at the end of May.

Earlier she have been earned exellent & CC from the dog show and
the quality result from trials. She was also the Derby finalist at last year!
